CD Alley was the local record shop in downtown Tree Hill, North Carolina. A retail outlet specializing in compact discs (CDs) and vinyl phonograph records with a wide range of musical genres, the store also purchased old or unwanted music records from its guests. In addition to its merchandise, the store kept a bulletin board near the front entrance detailing upcoming live music performances, including those at TRIC.
Between seasons one and two, CD Alley was often frequented by Peyton Sawyer during her junior year of high school. Local musician Chris Keller was employed here during the second season, though he later departed when he signed a professional recording contract and went on tour with Haley James Scott. Other notable visitors included Haley and her best friend Lucas Scott, who were implied to frequent the location, as well as Brooke Davis, who went in to sell some of her old CDs when her family ran into financial problems.
By the time of the four-year time jump in season five, CD Alley had closed its doors due to declining sales and customers. According to its former owner, this was largely attributed to the increasing popularity of streaming and downloading music online. ("Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace")
