Dan Scott Motors, also known simply as Scott Motors beginning in the second season, was the auto dealership owned and operated by Dan Scott between seasons one and four. The business was established with the financial backing of Dan's new parents-in-law shortly after he and his wife, Deb Scott (née Lee), dropped out of college and moved to Tree Hill, North Carolina, to raise their son, Nathan Scott.
A successful business, Dan Scott Motors offered a wide range of vehicle selections from the Ford and Chevrolet automobile manufacturers, as well as auto repair service. Toward the end of the first season, Dan expanded the business to include his brother Keith's auto body shop after Keith ran into financial problems. At the end of the second season, Dan's auto dealership was destroyed in a fire that was intended to kill him. While it was rebuilt, it is unknown what became of Dan Scott Motors after Dan was arrested in season four for the murder of his brother, though it is likely the business and its assets were sold off as Dan no longer owned the property after the four-year time jump in season five.
History[]
Background[]
The idea of opening an auto dealership had originally belonged to Dan's older brother, Keith Scott. By the time Keith had saved enough money to open his own dealership, however, Dan took the idea and opened Dan Scott Motors with financial backing from his in-laws. ("We Might as Well Be Strangers") When asked whether he resented his brother for stealing his idea, Keith responded by saying he didn't believe Dan had done it out of spite but was thinking of how best to provide for his new wife and son. Rather than opening a rival auto dealership to compete against his brother, Keith decided to use the money to open his own auto repair shop.

Triva[]
- While Dan was the managing partner of Scott Motors, it was revealed in the second season finale that he did not own the dealership. Instead, ownership of the property belonged to his wife, Deb. He used this fact as leverage when Deb discovered his illegal money laundering scheme and threatened to report him to the police, as she would be charged as an accessory. ("The Leavers Dance")
