Erica Marsh was a recurring character during the second season of One Tree Hill, portrayed by Katherine Bailess. A student at Tree Hill High School, she was highly involved in student affairs, serving as student body president during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years of high school, as well as president of the National Honor Society, head of the French club, and co-chair of the Tree Hill Big Sisters.
In the election for her senior year's student council, however, her candidacy for student body president was challenged by her fellow classmate, Brooke Davis. In an effort to maintain her position, Erica ran a smear campaign against Brooke and resorted to other dirty tactics, such as hiding the debate schedule from her competition. While she received the endorsement of the school's principal, who spoke on her behalf during her campaign, Erica ultimately lost the election to Brooke after her fellow students were swayed by a speech by Mouth McFadden.
Once she left office, Erica struggled to adapt to her new normal. In a bid to make friends, she began hanging out at school parties and allowed her classmates to begin calling her last name, "Marsh." However, she soon found she did not enjoy their company and eventually began a relationship with Mouth. Sometime during the summer between the second and third seasons, however, she and Mouth broke up.
