Faith Banks is a minor character during the third season of One Tree Hill, portrayed by Mekia Cox. An old friend of Lucas Scott, she was a former student at Tree Hill High School and an original member of the River Court squad. During her time in Tree Hill, she often played basketball alongside Lucas, Skills Taylor, Junk Moretti, and Fergie Thompson before moving away prior to the series premiere.
After her mother received a job offer as the boy's varsity basketball coach at another school, Faith moved to neighboring River City, where she lived through her senior year of high school. In her only appearance in the series, Lucas came to visit her after he and Peyton Sawyer traveled there to visit her birth mother. During that visit, Faith and Lucas recounted their history together and their time at the River Court.
Character arc[]
Background[]
During her freshman year at Tree Hill High School, Faith and her friends were bullied by Morgan Finley, captain of the Ravens cheerleaders. After Lucas Scott stood up to them, Morgan and the other cheerleaders left Faith and her friends alone but turned their attention to Lucas, whom they continued to bully for the remainder of the school year.
Afterward, Faith became close friends with Lucas and the other members of the original River Court squad: players Skills Taylor, Junk Moretti, and Fergie Thompson, as well as spectators Haley James, Mouth McFadden, and Jimmy Edwards. Despite being the only female player on the River Court, Faith was known for her basketball skills and held her own against the boys. Similar to Lucas, she had an appreciation for literature and would often borrow his books, as shown in her first appearance, when Lucas noted she was reading a book she had never returned.
Following her sophomore year of high school, Faith and her family moved away from Tree Hill after her mother received a coaching position at a school in neighboring River City.
