J : Brooke, before I met you I thought my world had everything I needed to be happy. I had nothing else to compare it to, then you walked into my life and everything changed. I realized how empty my world was without you in it, and my old life was no longer capable of making me happy… not without you. I love everything about you, Brooke. I love the way you challenged me like no one ever has. I love the way you look at me like no one ever has, and I love the way you love me like no one ever has. I can’t imagine spending my life without you, and if you say “yes” to me in a few minutes, I won’t have to. You look beautiful by the way.
B : Julian, before I met you my world revolved around one thing… me. And I liked it that way on my own, but then I met you and you saw through the facade. You saw me. You’ve taught me to trust, how to let someone in, and what it truly means to fall in love. I can’t possibly describe how much I love you, so I’ll tell you why I love you. You see the world in a way that no one else does and you appreciate everything, including me. There’s no one in the world like you, and if you say “yes” in a few minutes, I’ll get to spend the rest of my life trying to see the world through your eyes, appreciating everything, including you… the most unique, wonderful, and terribly handsome man I have ever met.
Brooke and Julian's vows to each other at their wedding.[src]

Brulian is the ship name of Brooke Davis and Julian Baker.

Brooke and Julian first meet while working together on Lucas' movie, quickly becoming close due to their traumatic history with their respective parents and their similar personalities (both are very extrovert, sarcastic and funny and have a very realistic and disillusioned life vision because of all the disappointments they've experienced). Sparks between them begin flying soon and then they gradually fall in love, but Brooke struggles to open up her heart because of all her past heartbreaks, causing them to initially break up. After some time, Brooke realizes she can’t keep running away from her feelings for Julian anymore because she loves him and knows she may have finally met the one for her, so she flies to Los Angeles and finally declares her love to Julian: the two reconcile and finally begin a committed relationship. Then, they stay together for over a year splitting their time between Tree Hill and LA before Julian decides to move to Tree Hill in order to settle down with Brooke. After some others ups and downs along the way, they become engaged and then get married, but in the meantime have to struggle with Brooke’s conceiving problems, until she miraculously gets pregnant and then gives birth to twin boys: Jude and Davis Baker.

Relationship arc[]

Season 6[]

Brooke and Julian meet for the first time after Julian has arrived to Tree Hill from Los Angeles to work on the movie based on Lucasfirst novel: the two immediately show an interest in each other and they begin getting to know one another better, ending up starting a relationship. After some ups and downs to figure out what’s there between them and if they want and are ready to be a steady couple or not, Brooke storms out of her room and into the bathroom, yelling at Julian for telling her he loves her. She repeatedly tells him that she likes him and cares very deeply for him, but she's not ready to say if she is in love with him yet because she thinks her love for him isn’t going to work out because of her other numerous failed relationships with other men and she is very scared to open up to love again, leaving him heartbroken. Julian, after finishing the work on the movie, has to come back to Los Angeles and asks Brooke to go with him and to bring also her foster daughter Samantha Walker, with whom he’s developed a great relationship and a strong bond too in the meantime, but Brooke decides to turn down his offer, feeling it is too much change in her life and she’s not ready yet, leaving both of them heartbroken. Julian is then invited by Lucas to his and Peyton's wedding to help he and Brooke to reconcile because he knows they miss each other and are clearly in love wit one another, but the two, not willing to admit they really want to be together, especially Brooke, end up bringing different dates to make the other jealous. Then, although Brooke is still afraid to tell Julian how she really feels, ends up confessing to him she misses him, but after failing in confessing her love for him again when they spend one last night together, he goes back to Los Angeles heartbroken, feeling there’s no hope for them. In the end, Brooke, with the help of her mother Victoria, finally realizes she can’t run away from love forever out of fear and that it’s not even fair, so she decides to fly to Los Angeles and finally tells Julian that she loves him: with a very romantic kiss on a movie set, the two officially begin a committed relationship.

Season 7[]

Brooke and Julian have been together for about one year and are very happy, but have to decide how to move forward as they live in opposite parts of the country and they can’t keep splitting their time between Tree Hill and LA as they’ve done until down, so Julian decides to move to Tree Hill to finally settle down with Brooke. After some time though, Brooke gets her heart broken again when she learns from the doctors she can’t have children, which had begun one of her greatest dreams for a while, and tells Julian, who promises her they will go through it and be fine and even though they can’t even children by themselves, there are other options. Soon after though, they start having problems when Julian begins working on a movie with Alex Dupre after Brooke has hired her as a new model for her clothing line as it becomes clear she’s set her eyes on him. Furthermore, Brooke is furious when Julian confides in Alex her conceiving problems, which is of course a thing too personal to tell basically a stranger: this puts a strain in their relationship and they even split up for a while. However, the two eventually reconcile and Julian ends up proposing to Brooke during a walk in the snow in Utah after the premiere of his new movie and she happily and tearfully accepts.

Season 8[]

Julian and Brooke are engaged and happier than ever, but they are at odds over moving to New York or not and also have to struggle with their inability to have kids and with Brooke’s financial problems which have come up after some frauds perpetuated by Victoria and Millicent. During a hurricane which has hit Tree Hill, the two are arguing about moving to New York and Brooke heads out only to find Jamie and Chuck in a crashed car and attempts to help. The car with Brooke and Jamie is pushed over into a river by a drunk driver, and Julian, who had gone out into the storm in search of Brooke, finds them and saves Brooke, who was drowning, performing CPR on her to reanimate her. Later, Brooke and Julian finally get married in a beautiful ceremony organized by Julian’s mother. The two then decide they want to start a family for real, but due to Brooke’s conceiving problems, they try the road of adoption, although the girl whom they had chosen to be the surrogate mother of their child changes her mind and decides to keep the baby after birth instead of giving them. The two are destroyed by the news, but accept her decision as she is very sure about it. Fortunately though, shortly after, they miraculously find out Brooke’s pregnant and so they are having their very desired a baby. After this discovery, the two decide to stay and definitely settle down in Tree Hill and not to move to New York as Brooke wants to raise their kid where she’s grown up too and Julian agrees. Later, after making an ultrasound, Brooke and Julian find out they are even expecting not one baby, but twins. The pregnancy is put at risk though when Brooke falls and is forced to give birth to the babies way before the expiration date, during the seventh month of gestation. Fortunately, everything ends up for the better as both Brooke and the babies are fine and she and Julian are finally able to have their family with their newborn children, whom they call Davis and Jude.

Season 9[]

Brooke and Julian adjust to their new lives as parents, juggling between their careers and jobs and their lives as a family. Things take a turn for the worse when Julian leaves Davis in the car when he goes to a job meeting, having then to struggles with the sense of guilt, but Brooke is there for him and to support him to overcome the situation, reminding him he’s a good father, no matter what, and that anyone can make a mistake: he just has to believe more in himself and that he can make it. Unfortunately, the situation takes an even more serious turn when Xavier, who attacked Brooke in her store back in season 6, is released from prison and begins stalking her to take revenge on her for getting him arrested. He decides to attack her again, but Brooke is able to defeat him once again. She and Julian recover from his actions and finally live happily together as husband and wife with their sons.
