B : I love you too P. Sawyer - ―Peyton and Brooke to each other
Breyton is the fan-given name of the long-time friendship between Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. Brooke and Peyton have been best friends since their childhood: they became close when Peyton’s adoptive mother died and Brooke was the one who was there for her in that tough moment. Their relationship is like a sisterhood and their friendship has always been very strong, no matter what: in fact, they’ve been able to overcome the issues they had because of the Scott brothers, in particular the love triangle they were involved in with Lucas.
History[]
Before the series, Brooke and Peyton grew up together, becoming close after Peyton's mother died when they were eight years old.
Season 1[]
In the first episode of season one, Peyton is dating Nathan Scott even though they’ve always been on and off. Brooke expresses her liking for Lucas Scott when he joins the Ravens, but Lucas has always loved Peyton. Lucas and Peyton keep running into each other and she starts reciprocating his feelings. Soon after Peyton has broken up with Nathan for good, they kiss for the first time at a party and they almost hook up, but when he tells her how deep are his feelings for her, she stops him due to her fear of letting someone in because of her traumatic past and they part ways. She then tells Brooke what happened between her and Lucas, prompting Brooke to tell Lucas to wait for Peyton as it’s hard for her tomopen up to someone, but when she does so, she gives you all her heart. However, after this Brooke asks him for a date and he accepts: when Peyton confesses her love for him, she finds the two of them together. Initially, Lucas chooses to stay with Brooke as he is scared of getting his heart broken by Peyton again, but soon after he realizes he made a huge mistake as he knows Peyton is the one for him, leading the two of them to cheat on Brooke because their feelings for each other are too strong (although they don’t sleep together). After Lucas’ car accident, he breaks up with Brooke to be with Peyton, who instead ends things with him too after seeing how much pain Brooke was in because of the break-up with Lucas. Then, Brooke finds out that Peyton and Lucas were sneaking around behind her back and disowns her as friend, but they eventually start to mend their friendship and by the last episodes of the season they are back to best friends.
Season 2[]
Brooke and Peyton remain best friends this whole season although they do drift apart while Brooke is messing around with Felix Taggaro. They eventually come back together after Brooke ends things with Felix.
Season 3[]
Brooke and Peyton are still besf friends in this season until the last two episodes when Peyton tells Brooke she is still in love with Lucas, who in the meantime has got back together with Brooke: before Nathan and Haley's vow renewal, Brooke and Peyton have a huge fight because of this reason and then they move apart, declaring their friendship over.
Season 4[]
Brooke and Peyton are still at odds with each other because of the love triangle mess. In the episode “Some You Give Away”, Brooke, who has understood herself Lucas and Peyton are meant to be together after breaking up with him for good, encourages him to confess to Peyton his love for her: this shows that Brooke still cares for Peyton. Then, in the episode after, Brooke consoles Peyton because Lucas is in the hospital because of his heart attack: Peyton tells her she would be best friends with her like before, but Brooke says that like before is gone. They agree not to be enemies and then they’re both seen at the hospital begging Lucas and Haley to wake up: Brooke is next to Lucas telling him that Peyton needs him now and Peyton tells Haley that she doesn’t want Brooke to be alone now that their friendship seems gone, so she needs her very much. Then, at a party at Nathan's house, when Brooke is coming to mend things once and for all with Peyton, a tape gets put in the TV of Brooke and Nathan having sex while he and Peyton were still dating. Peyton is furious and punches Brooke in retaliation, giving her a black eye. The day before prom, Peyton and Brooke have a physical fight after Peyton catches Brooke egging her house. Peyton gets so enraged that she tackles Brooke and the two fight on the ground. Peyton finally stands up for herself and tells Brooke that she has been honest with her about her feelings for Lucas, but Brooke never was with her because she had never revealed her hookup with Nathan (even without having any real feelings for him) and yet is still angry at Peyton for all that happened with her and Lucas. Peyton also says how it hurt her that Brooke used her mom's death as a punchline to hurt her after consoling her throughout it. Peyton ends it by saying that Brooke is dead to her, leaving Brooke heartbroken and devastated. It later turns out to be untrue as Peyton cares enough to be mean to Brooke by writing “whore” on her prom dress in light-revealing ink. After Brooke comes to find Peyton when she doesn't show up for prom she finds that "Psycho Derek" has come back and is holding Peyton hostage in the basement. He ties Brooke up too. Derek is about to kill Brooke but Peyton convinces him to let her do it. It looks like Peyton is about to kill her but she instead stabs Derek in the shoulder. Peyton gets away, then Derek tackles her in her room. Brooke ends up saving her and together they fight Derek until they eventually cause him to fall unconscious: this tragic event eventually causes the reconciliation of Brooke and Peyton’s friendship. At the end of the season Peyton gets a music internship in Los Angeles and decides to go and spend the summer with Brooke there.
Missing years[]
In the missing years between Season 4 and 5 we learn that after the summer they’ve spent together in LA, Brooke has moved to New York for her fashion line and Peyton has stayed in LA for her job at a music label and they’ve drifted apart and don’t really talk so much anymore. In the season five flashback episode "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" we see they still care for each other very much when Lucas visits Brooke in New York the day after him and Peyton have broken up due to her having rejected his marriage proposal and, heavily drunk, he tries to hook up with her, but she pushes him away, saying that she could never do such a thing at Peyton because she is her best friend and knowing he’s still completely in love with her.
Season 5[]
At the beginning of the season we see where everybody is at in their lives: Brooke is very succesful while Peyton not so much. At the end of the first episode, Peyton calls Brooke asking her if she's happy and what happened to them and Brooke says she's happy sometimes and then asks Peyton what is gonna make her happy: Peyton says she needs to go home, at which Brooke responds it’s exactly what she needed to hear and, at the very end of the episode, we see Brooke and Peyton meet up at the Tree Hill Airport as they hug and say they missed each other and it's going to be okay now. Thoughout the season they are rebuilding their friendship and helping each other out with their lives: they start living together as Brooke helps Peyton dealing with Lucas being with Lindsay and starting up her own music label and Peyton helps Brooke dealing with her company, her mom, Owen Morello, a possible new love interest of her own, and rasing her temporary adopted daughter Angie.
Season 6[]
In this season, Brooke and Peyton are still best friends, but they don’t live together anymore as Peyton has finally got back together with Lucas and has moved in with him in his house. The two share a heart filled moment after Brooke's attack in her store. Then, when Julian Baker arrives in Tree Hill to turn Lucas’ book into a movie and he falls for Brooke, Peyton encourages her to get together with him as she feels he could be the one for her. At the end of the season, Peyton gets married to Lucas and Brooke is her Maid of Honor. Then, Peyton names her daughter after Brooke, Sawyer Brooke Scott, and chooses her to be the godmother.
Season 7[]
Brooke has a hard time dealing with Peyton leaving Tree Hill. Peyton is mentioned by Brooke several times.
Season 8[]
After Julian's proposal Brooke calls Peyton to annouce her engagement. Peyton should be Brooke's Maid of Honor but Peyton's daughter becomes sick. So Peyton cannot assist to Brooke's wedding and Haley replaces her as Brooke's Maid of Honor.
Season 9[]
Peyton is mentioned by Brooke several times.
Influence in Brooke's Career[]
Brooke names her first company Clothes Over Bros after her and Peyton's catchphrase: “Hoes over bros”. Her magazine is named B. Davis after the nickname that Peyton given to her from the childhood.
