She, at one point, had a relationship with [[Dan Scott (1940s)|Dan Scott]], but eventually found love with [[Keith Scott (1940s)|Keith Scott]]. However, after his untimely death she fled [[Tree Hill City]] in grief, giving her club to Lucas. She later died of a broken heart.

Everyone who knew Karen held her at extremely high regard. Once Lucas Scott gained ownership of the club, he attempted to hold up the high reputation that Karen set for Karen's Cafe.
