The following are the details of the relationships that Lucas Scott has been a part of throughout and before the series.

Peyton Sawyer Scott
Start Up: Life in a Glass House
Marriage: Forever And Almost Always

Relationship: Wife and Love of his Life
Details: Lucas fell in love with Peyton the moment he first saw her in the 8th grade. He was very jealous when she began dating his half-brother and rival Nathan Scott during high school. They did not speak to each other until her car broke down at the beginning of their junior year and he towed it back to town. He immediately showed her nothing but kindness and respect and encouraged her dreams. This led her to break off her relationship with Nathan, realizing she deserved far better and becoming more and more interested in him. Their feelings for each other kept growing stronger and stronger until they shared their first kiss, but when Lucas made it clear how deep his feeling for her were, she became uncomfortable because she was scared to completely open up to him and left. By the time she realized she made a mistake and admitted she felt the same way as him, he had already got involved with Brooke. However, after some time the two weren't able to hold their feelings back anymore and in a moment of weakness they gave into them, becoming secret lovers behind Brooke's back (though they didn't sleep together), but Peyton tearfully ended things with Lucas despite loving him out of guilt for betraying Brooke. Then, they painfully became estranged for some time because of this mess, but fortunately they soon mended their friendship and then they spent their entire summer following junior year together: they hung out, helped each other through their problems and shared mutual secrets and intimate things, resulting in their bond becoming stronger than it had ever been. Despite this, at the beginning of senior year Lucas began dating Brooke again. After Peyton started realizing her feelings for him were resurfacing, she was wounded in her leg during the school shooting and Lucas risked his life to carry her to safety: thinking she couldn't make it, Peyton told him she loved him and they shared a brief but meaningful kiss. Fortunately, Lucas was able to save her and then, when she properly recovered, they talked about the kiss, both agreeing to pretend it meant nothing not to hurt Brooke, but soon after Peyton realized she was still in love with him. When Lucas and Brooke's relationship ended for good, Peyton was very supportive to him as always and helped him to move on. Lucas then saved Peyton's life again when a guy claiming to be her brother turned out to be a stalker: Peyton was distraught and he again was there to help her to overcome the trauma. Then, when Lucas told her it was over for good between him and Brooke after going to one last date together, which made them ultimately understand they were not the right person for each other and not meant to be, Peyton finally found the courage to declare her love to him: Lucas was caught totally off guard and left speechless, so he spent a little time examining his feelings for her. At the State Championship, he finally realized Peyton was the one for him all along and declared his love to her with his iconic “It’s you” speech, after which they shared a long-awaited kiss in the middle of the court. They immediately began a committed relationship for the first time, both finding themselves happier than they've ever been and madly in love with each other. After graduation, she moved to L.A. to pursue a career in music while he went to college with Nathan and Haley to help them with Jamie. Long distance made things hard, so about one year after graduation he paid her a surprise visit and proposed, but she was not ready for marriage yet and wanted to wait: he took this as a rejection and walked away, ending their relationship. The two did not see each other for about three years (during which he became a published author) until she suddenly returned to Tree Hill to win him back because she was still in love with him. It was uncomfortable for him as he had begun dating his book editor Lindsay Strauss, but it became increasingly obvious that he was still in love with Peyton too: despite this, he kept being in deep denial because of his fear to get another rejection and went way too far proposing to Lindsey. Though jealous and devastated, Peyton tried to be supportive because she wanted him to be happy, with or without her, but, after reading his new book, The Comet, and understanding it was about his everlasting love for Peyton, Lindsey realized Lucas would always be in love with Peyton and left him at the altar. After having a difficult time struggling to get over this mess, Lucas finally cleared his mind once and for all and reunited with Peyton. They immediately moved in together in his home and finally began their new adult life together while starting to plan their wedding. Then, they were overjoyed when Peyton discovered she was pregnant with their first child, but after some months they discovered she had a dangerous condition which threatened her life and the life of the baby: despite this, they decided to risk it. While the pregnancy was approaching its end, the two finally got married by the lake where they first spoke. That night, at home, Lucas found Peyton in a pool of blood because of her disease and rushed her to the hospital: fortunately, both she and their baby, whom they eventually called Sawyer, survived. Then, the new family moved away from Tree Hill for good to start a new life, finally living happily ever after.

Brooke Davis
Start Up: You Gotta Go There to Come Back (first time)
How a Resurrection Really Feels (second time)
Break Up: Suddenly Everything Has Changed (first time)
The Same Deep Water as You (second time)
Relationship: Ex-Girlfriend
Details: Lucas immediately caught Brooke's eye when he joined the Ravens at the beginning of junior year. Despite his clear mutual feelings for Peyton and his evident disinterest in her, she threw herself at him in an obvious manner, bothering him, but then the two did grow closer when he began seeing that she had more to her character than acting like the school tramp. They eventually began dating after Peyton rejected him. Although she could see the clear warning signs that she was just a replacement for Peyton to Lucas, Brooke thought she was falling in love for the first time. It ended in heartache for her when she learned that Lucas and Peyton had become secret lovers behind her back because he knew she was the one for him: this caused a lot of strife and it ended his relationships with both the girls for a while. After some time, Lucas suddenly developed some true feelings for Brooke, but she had never totally got over the sting of his betrayal, so when he confessed he wanted to be with her before the summer break she fled, remembering too well how unhealthy their relationship was. At the beginning of senior year, she invited him to have a non-committal relationship, which went horribly wrong due to non-stop misunderstandings and fights and culminated in Brooke sleeping with Chris Keller. Even after that, they didn’t give up on the idea of being together: in fact, when she showed him the 82 letters she had wrote him during her vacation but did not send, telling him she wanted to be with him, he suddenly decided to forgive her, then the two agreed to start a real relationship. However, they began fighting constantly as Brooke was always nervous and jealous about Lucas' close relationship with Peyton, whose bond with him kept growing stronger and stronger even if they weren't together, due to the feeling she was still basically just a replacement for her to him. After Lucas risked his life to save Peyton during the school shooting, Brooke realized the two of them had a connection with each other so strong that would always be there, no matter what, ending up telling Peyton “the boy I love saved the girl I love. That's the girl that he loves too... We both know that it's true”. Despite trying to help Lucas mourn Keith's loss, Brooke could tell their romance was fading because they couldn't get each other at all, starting to grow more and more emotionally distant. Brooke ended their relationship when she understood that they really didn't work together. Then, she and Lucas both accepted once and for all they were not right for each other and not meant to be, though they agreed to remain friends: this was the definitive end of Brooke and Lucas’ romantic chapter. In their young adulthood, Brooke was Peyton's Maid of Honor during her and Lucas’ wedding and the godmother to their daughter Sawyer while finally meeting the love of her life, Julian Baker, whom she eventually got married to and had twin sons with.

Rachel Gatina
Start Up: A Multitude of Casualties
Ended: The Worst Day Since Yesterday

Relationship: Attraction
Details: Upon arriving in Tree Hill, Rachel flirted with Lucas, but she never stated whether or not she was actually really interested in him. Their flirtatious friendship worked in both their favors for some time, as it allowed Lucas to make Brooke jealous (as Brooke was refusing to date him exclusively) and it also allowed Rachel to get under Brooke's skin and to find another way to anger her. Rachel knew, and appreciated, that Lucas was using her and allowed it, but after the first basketball game of their senior year she told Lucas that she was done being part of his plan to make Brooke jealous and the two had very little contact from there on out. As a point of interest years later Rachel was married to Dan Scott for a time and co-host of his talk show. So for a while she was Lucas' step-mother. Since Lucas had already departed Tree Hill it is unknown how he felt about that.

Lindsey Strauss
Start Up: Before 4 Years, 6 Months, 2 Days
Break Up: Hundred
Relationship: Ex-Fiancée
Details: After starting to edit his first novel and over one year after his break-up with Peyton, Lucas and Lindsey began a romantic relationship and would split their time between Tree Hill and New York. Lucas helped Lindsey through her father's death from cancer during their relationship. The first strains for the two began when Peyton returned to town and the couple would fight due to her obvious still existent feelings for Lucas and the fact that he clearly hadn't moved on from her too. Despite this, the two became engaged, but on the wedding day Lindsey couldn't go through with it, realizing Lucas deep down was still and would always be in love with Peyton and left him at the altar. Lucas constantly called and e-mailed Lindsey trying to repair their relationship, so she had to tell him she was dating someone else to persuade him to stop. This led him to become depressed for a while but had the desired effect: Lucas finally gave a serious thought to how he truly felt and finally cleared his mind about Peyton, realizing Lindsey was right all along and he was still in love with her, prompting him to get back together with her. During this time, Lindsey called him and admitted she still loved him. When they met again some time later, he told her about his engagement to Peyton: she was hurt but not really surprised because, at the end of the day, she knew all along it was meant to end this way, so she and Lucas agreed not to let it affect their professional relationship.
